Arrowroot Powder

Three round arrowroot tubers, arranged in a triangle.

Ingredient - Arrowroot Powder (Maranta Arundinacea Root)

Scientific Background: Rooted in Science - Arrowroot is derived from the underground stems, or rhizomes, of the tropical tuberous plant Maranta Arundinacea. This plant has familial relations with ginger and turmeric. The rhizomes are harvested, dried, and processed into a fine white powder, known as arrowroot powder. Enriched with complex carbohydrates, including glucose molecules, and indigestible fiber,  arrrowroot play a significant role in promoting hair health.

Plant Origin & Native Region - Arrowroot originates from Central America and the Caribbean.

Hair Specialty: Stabilizer, Thickener, Shine-Reducer, Enhancer - Arrowroot is a potent natural ingredient extensively used in our formulas for its unique properties, serving multiple essential functions:

  • Stabilizer: Arrowroot powder ensures that various components within our products blend seamlessly, maintaining their consistency over time. This is especially crucial in products containing both oil and water-based ingredients, preventing them from separating and ensuring they work synergistically.

  • Thickener: Arrowroot powder contributes to the rich, luxurious texture of our products, enhancing their spreadability and making them easier to apply. This attribute is especially beneficial in hair care products, where it can help evenly distribute the product throughout the hair for optimal effects.

  • Shine-Reducer: Arrowroot's oil-absorbing qualities make it ideal for individuals with oily hair, as it can absorb excess oil and leave hair looking fresh and clean.
