Candelilla Wax

Flat, leaf-shaped plate holding a piece of candelilla waxIngredient - Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera)

Scientific Background: Rooted in Science. Candelilla wax, derived from the candelilla shrub, showcases its resilience by thriving in harsh, drought-prone environments. Typically found at altitudes between 3,000 to 6,000 feet in the Chihuahuan desert of northern Mexico and the southwestern United States, this remarkable wax consists of a complex blend of wax esters, alcohols, and hydrocarbons. It boasts approximately 30% candelilla esters, 20% hydrocarbons, and 50% other compounds, originating from the leaves of the candelilla shrub, a member of the Euphorbiaceae family.

Plant Origin & Native Region. Candelilla wax is native to the Chihuahuan desert in northern Mexico and the southwestern United States.

Hair Specialty: Stabilizer, Thickener, Enhancer. Candelilla wax offers several benefits in hair care products. As a stabilizer, it ensures emulsions remain stable, preventing separation and graininess. This natural emollient not only thickens the products but also enhances slip, making application easier. It also improves shine, hold, and detangling. Moreover, Candelilla wax is non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, effectively reducing frizz and flyaways, leaving hair soft and easy to comb and style.
